Caroline Alexiou — Before I met my partner…hard to say since so many things only came up only in the dance of deep relationship where there was room to project and encounter one’s projections, but before I met my partner I spent at least a few years exploring my body through dance and improvisation, which I think allowed me a template for relationship and interaction grounded in something other than thought/language.

At the time, I was so mired in depression for so long that language was pretty much just a trap for me, my inner observers and critics so harsh that they could destroy any glimmer of hope, it was a gift to be able to go, even for brief moments, into places where I could connect with human beings outside of any language I had for the encounter.
